The Wine & Spirit Education Trust at a glance
The WSET exists to promote, provide and develop high quality education and training in wines, spirits and other alcoholic beverages for those already in or intending to join the trade, and enthusiastic consumers throughout the world. We aim to be the leading educational body in our field.
We are a UK based educational charity. We work closely with the drinks industry, educational partners world-wide and the relevant regulatory authorities.
There are 4 strands to our activities:
Qualifications
It is the responsibility of our operating division, WSET Awards, to develop learning outcomes and set examinations leading to a number of qualifications in Wine & Spirit Education.
WSET Awards administer existing qualifications and work with our research and development team to develop new ones.
They work closely with the UK government's regulatory authority for education, the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA). WSET is the only wine and spirit education body approved by the QCA.
Approved Programme Providers
Through WSET Awards we oversee the appointment, administration and support of an extensive network of third party teaching and examination centres around the world, the WSET Approved Programme Providers.
Recommended Tutors
We also administer the WSET Recommended Tutor Scheme, for individuals wishing to deliver the Level 1 Foundation Certificate, Level 2 Intermediate Certificate and Level 3 Advanced Certificate programmes.
Delivery of courses at WSET School. The WSET School, based at our London headquarters, is the flagship in terms of course delivery. It sets the standards for all Approved Programme Providers world-wide.
The School spearheads the delivery of all core qualification courses and provides a series of evening seminars for wine enthusiasts.
The Institute of Wine and Spirits
